Introducing Redshift Sharing on Bobsled

Teams can now securely share data to customers natively on Redshift from any data lake or warehouse using the platform’s native sharing protocol.

Today, we are thrilled to announce that Bobsled has expanded its support for cross-cloud data sharing to Amazon Redshift. Teams can now securely share data to customers natively on Redshift from any data lake or warehouse using the platform’s native sharing protocol.

Redshift was the first modern Cloud Data Warehouse. Data and analytics teams have built on the platform for over a decade. The easier you can make it for Amazon Redshift users to discover and access your data without ever leaving the platform, the faster they can generate the insights you need to drive consumption.

With Redshift on Bobsled, you can:

  • Securely share data to customers in any region of Redshift from Snowflake, BigQuery, AWS S3, Azure Storage, Google Cloud Storage and more using its native sharing protocol.
  • Unify and streamline delivery operations across data platforms, cloud storage and SFTP.
  • Automate fulfillment within your existing workflow using the Bobsled API

Zero Copy Sharing to Redshift from any cloud or platform

Redshift sharing works like any other destination on Bobsled. Specify the region and AWS ID where you want it to go, select the files or tables you want to share from your source, and set the loading and update pattern. Within minutes, your customer receives a native share in their Redshift account..

The magic of Bobsled is that data is delivered via Redshift’s zero copy sharing protocol. That means your customers get all the benefits of zero copy sharing - zero ETL, credential-free permissioning and live updates - without the need to manage infrastructure in the destination. Integrate Bobsled with your file storage, data warehouse or SFTP, any you’re ready to share anywhere in the cloud with no additional development work.

Unify and streamline delivery operations

Sharing analytical data with customers used to be straightforward for data product and delivery teams. Customers had one of two options: they could scrape data from an API or request files to be shared via SFTP.

That’s changed in the past few years. Almost every major data company now has to support direct delivery to cloud storage (AWS S3, Azure Storage, Google Cloud Storage) or natively to their data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery etc.). The proliferation of channels means that product, engineering and customer success teams now have to support 8-10 different protocols – across 80+ individual cloud regions.

Bobsled eliminates the complexity by providing a single API for data sharing. Engineering teams do not need to build and manage pipelines across hundreds of different platform / region permutations. Integrate with Bobsled once, and semi and non-technical stakeholders can permission, manage and revoke shares to customers.

Automate data sharing with the Sharing API

One API for sharing: Turn hours of managing infrastructure, mirroring data and granting permissions into a few simple lines of code with Bobsled.

  • Embed into CRM: Empower sales people to initiate deliveries directly from a CRM with no technical knowledge required
  • Self-service sharing: Enable approved customers to initiate shares directly from an application like a Marketplace or
